Lavender Walk is a dedicated unit for young people with mental health difficulties aged 13 up to their 18th birthday. They offer inpatient care for up to 12 young people and a day programme for four people.
The Lavender Walk centre is a secure residential unit which has few windows, lots of blank walls and is mainly lit by skylights. We were asked to provide artworks for consultation rooms, corridors, dining rooms and communal areas.
Our pictures provided portals to the beautiful world outside, which benefits the young people, staff and visitors and creates a healthier and happier atmosphere within the unit.
It was a positive project for everyone, with both staff and young people being involved with the picture choices.
